Appointed to U.S. Team, Makes Pro Debut
Jackson Achieves Heights in Racquetball
Sixteen-old Sharon Jackson from Shelbyville is making a name for herself on the state and national scene of Racquetball.
Fresh off being named Female Player of the Year for the Indiana State Racquetball Association, Jackson has qualified for the USA Jr. National Racquetball Team. In fact she qualified twice as a result of winning the 16 & under singles, then pairing with Holly Hettesheimer, of Ohio, to capture the 16 & under doubles. She topped that off by teaming with Allan Crockett, of Alabama, to win the 18 & under mixed doubles at the championships conducted
Before wrapping herself in elite status at the Junior Nationals last June at the Michigan Athletic Club in Lansing, Jackson made a few other stops on the way to stardom. For example:
U.S. National Singles Championships in Houston in June; won A Singles Division, then emptied the sand from her pockets and lost in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Open/Pro Division to the #1 ranked, and eventual champion, Rhonda Rajsich.
Named EKtelon Junior elite team Player of the Year
Silver medalist in National High School Championships in March at Portland, OR, where she won a gold medal in mixed doubles.
Captured three open championships on the 2005-06 INSRA Tour and topped that off with the Open championship win during the 2006 State Singles in Indianapolis.
Named INSRA Female Player of the Year
Gold medal winner in Women’s 24/25 A Division at U.S. Open Championships in November 2005 in Memphis. She was second in the Women’s A Singes and won in the A Doubles.
In 2007, Jackson participated in singles and doubles in the World Tournament, coming in with a first in doubles, and a second in singles.
