I trust all of you had a very happy holiday season. Now that 2020 is in full swing, I hope you’ll join all of us at INSRA in making this a stellar year for Indiana racquetball. We’re off to a great start with approximately 13 planned events on the calendar thus far. Our event schedule is constantly being updated with the latest and greatest information, so please check back often and be sure to reference R2 sports for the official list of sanctioned events in Indiana and the nation.

Right now, we’ve got Indiana State Singles Championships scheduled for April and State Doubles Championships slated for July. The 3rd Annual Rocky Carson clinic will be held in August, this time in Schererville, and the Sheryl Lotts shootout is planned for May in Fort Wayne. Tom Bainbridge and Diane Moore are our “anchors” with their usual excellent events planned in the spring and fall. We’re targeting a recurrence of the Purdue Cup in Lafayette in April, the Racquets for Rescues fundraiser in Indianapolis in September and the Great Pumpkin Shootout in October, this time in Fort Wayne. And I’m very pleased to announce the debut of NEW events to be held at the Carmel LA Fitness in March and the Castleton Lifetime Fitness in April, June, and October. So lots of opportunities for all of us to pick up a racquet and play!

We’ve learned a lot over the past year and are looking forward to applying that knowledge to our events this year. We will be laser-focused in 2020 on scheduling events to start and end on-time and manage facility capacity as effectively and efficiently as possible. This means that we will likely have to manage divisions closely to ensure matches stay on schedule or “cap” attendees at events being held at facilities with a limited number of courts. So please sign up early for those events you are interested in to secure your place! (We’ll have waiting lists set up in the event of a cancellation.)

Check out our website for updates to the Board, our meeting schedule, and By-Laws. In addition, we’ll be using our website to re-launch our annual awards program this year so stay tuned for more details on this soon.

2020 is off to a great start for Indiana Racquetball. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at an event “coming soon to theatre near you!” In the interim, if you’d like to join us in our mission to make Indiana Racquetball the best it has ever been, please reach out to any Board Member. There is always room for you to contribute as an event volunteer, a tournament director, or a full-fledged Board Member. We’d love to have you join the team!

See you on the Courts!

Sincerely,

Laura Pesek
