‘Tis the season for graduation parties, baseball games, sitting by the pool, hot dogs & beer, and all the fun activities associated with warmer weather. While you’re enjoying your version of “sun and fun,” all of us on the INSRA Board hope you’ll make some time to participate in one or more of the great events we have planned this season.

First and foremost, we’ve got Indiana State Doubles coming up on July 20th at Franciscan Health and Fitness in Schererville, Indiana. We’ve moved this event up from December to July based on overwhelming feedback from the racquetball community. I’m also happy to report that the Board unanimously approved to amend our by-laws to allow out-of-state teams to compete in this tournament going forward. So for 2019, everyone is welcome to participate and we no longer require an Indiana resident on each team. We’ve got lots of fun things planned for this event, so stay tuned to R2 for details and sign up soon!

We are also planning to have Rocky Carson back to Indiana on August 24-25th for the next installment of the Rocky Carson Clinic. This year, we’ll be hosting this event in Fort Wayne to provide even more folks an opportunity to participate and learn from the best of the best. This is one event you won’t want to miss for the sequel promises to be even better than the original!

And don’t forget about Rally in the Region currently scheduled for the weekend of August 10th and Racquets for Rescues scheduled for the weekend of September 7th. Both of these events are always great fun and a terrific opportunity to sharpen your skills prior to the US Open in October.

While you’re here on the website, check out the pictures from our recent Women’s clinic, Lotts of Love, held on May 18th. LPRT Professional and Team USA Member, Sheryl Lotts, shared her passion and expertise with a great group of women players from Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. Everyone had a great time, played a TON of racquetball, and even made some new friends. Many thanks to Sheryl for a great clinic, Greg Lotts for stringing racquets, Kevin Gearhart for the food, and our volunteers David Lyvers, Travis Fudge, and Mike Pace. With any luck, this will also become an annual event!

Last but not least, INSRA’s Annual Board meeting will be held on Saturday, July 13th in Indianapolis. Elections for 2 of the 4 Executive Officers will be held at this meeting and elections for Board members will be held prior to the annual meeting. Board members must be an Indiana resident, a member in good standing with the association, and possess past and present demonstration of good character. All Board members must pass SafeSport Certification training and a background check within 30 days of election. If you’re passionate about racquetball and would like to join us in growing this sport in Indiana, please reach out to any Board Member. We’d love to have you join us!

Until then, hit ’em hard and low! See you on the courts!
